Poem Post to Chaucer

Geoffrey, I have to intrude on you again.
I know you hate to answer critics’ questions.
It’s such a bother, when you dream of Spain
and Italy, and all those glorious vacations.
But, please, one poet to another, explain
what made you tie so many stories together
and link them teller to teller?  Strain
my simple understanding, whether
you really meant to match the characters,
or was it accidental only, a plain
unexpected circumstance?  What factors
were involved when you first noticed the plan?
I know I’m being saucy.  Don’t be upset.

Who else could I turn to on the internet?
