Beyond all little niggling
self-reflective doubts,
How do we face a world where evil
triumphs,
Where those who hate themselves
show little pouts
Against mindless tyrannies, where
trumps
Still cry with a clarion call to
waken those
Who dream away humanity, yet find
The courage to excoriate the Jews
And demonize the Land of
Israel—what kind
Of madness has been loosened from
the mud
To sleep in every bed and
copulate
With ignorance, self-righteousness,
the blood
We thought had seeped away to
die. Now hate
Again is everywhere and no one
hears:
The martyrs poison us with asses’
tears.
